MOSQUITOES AND TICKS
VECTOR-BORNE DISEASE CONTROL
A vector is an organism that can transmit a pathogen or parasite from one infected person or animal to another. For diseases where there is no effective cure, such as Zika Virus and West Nile Virus, or diseases that can cause long-term chronic symptoms such as Lyme Disease, vector control remains the only way to protect human populations. The Hocking County Health Department uses an integrated pest management program to reduce vector-borne diseases in Hocking County.
