Pool Closure Policy
Public Swimming Pool and Spa Closure Policy Pursuant to the recommendations of the Ohio Department of Health, the Health Commissioner or his/her legal representative may order a public swimming pool or spa to immediately vacate and close if the any of the following violations are observed:
- 1. Level of disinfectant below required minimum.
- 2. Bottom of the swimming pool/spa is not visible.
- 3. Main drain(s) cover(s) is/are missing.
- 4. Water temperature is above maximum allowed.
- 5. Body fluid or waste is observed in the swimming pool/spa water.
- 6. Inadequate lifeguarding practices per OAC 3701-31-05.
- 7. Lack of continuous circulation and filtration.
- 8. Extreme high or low pH level.
- 9. Safety issues including but no limited to unsafe electrical pool light, broken glass, etc.
A written swimming pool/spa closure order detailing the reasons for closure must be presented to the owner/operator. The closure may not be revoked until a reinspection by the Logan-Hocking County Health District is conducted and the noted violations are abated.
The license holder/operator may appeal the closure order through a hearing before the Board of Health.
